Our lovely cousins Maeve and Killian have a wonderful vacation home in the village of Inchydoney, which is about an hour outside of Cork, Ireland on the southern coast. We used this as a home base as there are a lot of Cunninghams to see! Maeve, Killian and all of their kids made us feel so welcome in their home. It was a wonderful way to start off our trip.
Here’s how the family tree breaks down:
Joseph (brother of Austin Cunningham) and Pat have five kids:
Maeve (married to Killian). They have five children:
Darragh,
Aoife (pronounced Eefa)
Emer
Eoin (pronounced Owen)
Ciara
Diarmuid married to Margurite. They have three girls:
Aoibhin (pronounced Aveen)
Shauna
Saoirse (pronounced Seersha)
Declan (who we unfortunately only got to see for a few minutes in Cork!) He’s busy starting up his own company. He has three girls:
Roisin
Aislinn
Sinead
Brendan is married to Gillian and has four boys:
Shane
Conor
Mark
Peter
Oonaugh is married to Don. They have two boys:
Conal
Adam
Here are the Part I photos from our stay in Inchydoney. We were all a little worried how the Only Child Savannah Jane would react to a herd of kids, all much older than her, but she took it in stride as she did the voyage over the ocean.
She seemed really excited to see kids and made fast friends with all of them. Ireland has a different pace than we have here in the states. It is (and I mean this positively) slower and sweeter. Kids can run down to the beach by themselves, doors don’t have to be locked all the time and a game of rounders is preferred to a game boy or TV. Wins all around.
Not a bad view from the porch
Check out Adam in his Amy’s Ice Cream shirt! He, his mom and brother visited us last summer.
Maeve had breakfast all set out for us the first morning we were there. We all slept 12 hours that night and it was a pleasure to wake up with the table set and cereal all around.
Down at the beach!
Sand castles were most certainly on the agenda. You’ll see lots of pictures of Savannah and various relatives making these.
Cork Part II tomorrow!
