“Mrs. Hayden says that I have smarty branches. I guess I must just be part of a really smart tree”

Mrs. Hayden (kindergarten teacher) actually told Savannah that she had ‘smarty britches’ but this was so cute that I didn’t correct her.

“That clock is talking!!!!”

Savannah as we were huddled around the radio to listen to the Longhorn game. Oh ESPN, the woe you have wrought .

POTD | Aggie Day 2011

Amazing Mama-Savannah day as we headed to College Station on Sunday to watch the Ags dismantle SMU. I don’t want to get too excited about the season yet, but they actually look like contenders this year.

This year, I got smart and sprang for the on campus parking. Savannah called it ‘first class parking’ and man was it ever. It will be my standard from now on. The $20 was worth the 1 block as opposed to 3 mile walk to the car after the game. We made a stop by the Chi Omega house as well.

I also have to say a BIG thanks (although he will never hear it) to Jeff Fuller, a wide receiver and number 8 for the Ags. He is an almost certain first round NFL draft pick. After half time, there is a place by our seats where you can watch the players come out and get a high five. Savannah was so little last year she got passed by a lot. This year, she was determined to not let that happen and she had her little hand stretched waaaaay across the barrier. Jeff walked down the line, looked every kid in the eye and gave them high fives. It was a class move and Savannah was THRILLED. So now you have an extra reason to root for him.

On a down note, when we were driving home, we passed some of the wildfires that are going on in central Texas right now. It was SO scary looking. Huge, towering flames that you could see and smell from the highway. So far there have been 25,000 acres in Bastrop burned and a subdivision about 15 minutes from us has been burning since Sunday. We need rain in a way I have never seen.
