Paris | A Portrait in Montmarte

It’s an astoundingly touristy thing to do, but I didn’t care.

We had a street artist make a drawing of Savannah while we were in Montmarte. I had one done on my first trip there as well. I love how nervous she looks in these photos – it’s pretty intense when someone is staring at you like the artist was. By the end, there was a crowd of people gathered as well. You’ll also see Conor’s hand holding her rapidly melting ice cream cone in one of the photos.

Woo! Paris.

POTD | Jetlag in Photo Form

This was Savannah about 2 minutes after we got back home from Lucy and Atif’s wedding in London. She took off her shoes and fell SOUNDLY asleep on the kitchen floor. She would have stayed there until morning if we had left her there.

POTD | Lemonade Stand

How in love with the new blog format am I?!?

I love that my photos aren’t getting all grainy and pixelated (and that WordPress is actually letting me upload them with out pain. Blogger, I’m looking in your direction.). I hope you are liking the new look too.

So…the juicer, as you remember from the last post has been getting some use. Savannah has been desperate for a lemonade stand and we indulged her finally. We had to make brown sugar lemonade because we were out of regular white sugar (I’m not sure how that happened) but it tasted great. Fresh squeezed is always a winner. Savannah netted about $4. She offered it for free but accepted tips and how could you not pay such a cute fairy a small tip?

After the stand, there was a business lesson on profit. Savannah and Conor calculated our costs versus her revenue. CEO training never ends around here. Eyes on the prize.

Kudos to Conor for sitting out in the heat with her! Also, looking at these photos, she’s in her pajamas. I cannot remember why, but I was really tired this day and obviously was letting some duties slide.

Chris - Good God that’s some brown lemonade!!! Give my congrats to the sweet CEO $4 is a pretty good take for free lemonade!!!

Mama - I know! It looks like iced tea – but it really was good.

Fathers’ Day

When we were in Paris, one of the things that made us think “Hey, these people have their stuff figured out” was that instead of orange juice made with sugar and water, you would order Orange Presse, which is actual oranges squeezed right then to give you a glass of pure orangeĀ juice. It was amazing (and also, like $8, but who’s counting).

I, as usual, was stumped about what to get Conor for Fathers’ Day until the brainstorm of “Hey, they sell citrus juicers in the States too!”. One trip to Williams Sonoma later and we own a top of the line citrus juicer. You’d think this was a one off, unitasker kind of device, but we have made orange juice, lemonade, limeade, margaritas and orange-tangerine juice. It’s an incredible little machine and we are happy it’s at our house.

Here is Fathers’ Day 2011
