POTD | Woo! Back from London

Wow, I need some time not zooming across the ocean. As exciting as it sounds to be in Europe three times within 8 weeks, the reality is that I am tired and longing for more Tex-Mex and Margs and friend time.

Not that the trips were not fun and fantastic, because they were all amazing (especially seeing family and a delightful English wedding this past weekend), but the travel part is a cruel mistress. Everything suffers – work, the house, etc.

Savannah takes it all in stride though. Here she is outside our latest hotel. Travel = not a problem for Little S.

I was telling her that I was looking forward to some time at home today and she said that she wished we could travel all the time. I am happy about that attitude because it will surely serve her well in the years to come. A five year old with an impressive set of stamps in her passport is never a bad thing and we are so grateful we’ve been able to supply those experiences for her.

POTD | Petite Ecole graduation

Oh Petite Ecole, how we love you so.

It has been such an amazing Pre-K/Preschool experience for Savannah and us. There is something about this school that attracts a diverse, very ‘Austin’ crowd and I (and Savannah) am so glad that I have had the opportunity to meet these familes and kids. We love them SO much and are crushed that we won’t be with them all next year.

My child speaks French fluently and I had a peaceful feeling dropping her off each morning for two years. The teachers love her almost as much as we do and that feeling is worth more than gold.

The school is very good about making a big deal about milestones – birthdays are a day long celebration and graduation is awesome! The kids spend a month making ‘Goodbye books’ where they write a special page to each graduate. I will keep this graduation book forever – it’s so darling. The teacher says a bit about each student. (Savannah’s story was how she kept shouting ‘SPEAK ENGLISH!’ the first three weeks she was there) and there is a presentation of the book and a flower.

Then the kids sing a song and we have a potluck. LOVE. THIS. SCHOOL. If you are in Austin and want a safe and happy place for your children, I can’t recommend it enough.

Viva Petite Ecole!
