POTD: Slumber Party + Free at last!

Your favorite girl and mine went to her first slumber party last weekend! Zero problems being away from home. I think it helped that she was only 6 doors down at Olivia’s, but still, she was the only one of four that made it through the night. Here she is in her PJ’s with her party favor the morning after.

Conor and I went out to dinner. Free babysitting!!

In other news, I am finally free of pine mouth!! It took a solid 8 days before I was back to normal and one of my favorite things – coffee was the last thing to start tasting normal again. Check your pine nuts – if they come from China, throw them away. Italian and US ones should be safe.

Pine Mouth update: Tastebuds held hostage day 4.

On to SJ:
I heard that phrase in the title before I had Savannah with respect to another little girl and I always thought it was the coolest girl description ever. Little did I know it would fit my little person to a ‘T’. It’s not that Savannah doesn’t have her girly moments, but she is generally more interested in adventure.

And that’s fine by me.

What the? Pine Mouth? Great.

**Thursday morning edit – everything still tastes like soap in a tin can AND my lovely husband will not stop laughing at me from Seattle – He thinks I’m making this up – nice Conor**

Since Tuesday evening I have had the WORST taste in my mouth. Bitter, metallic  – like I have crushed aspirin on my tongue. Everything I eat or drink tastes gross. It’s horrible.

As it didn’t go away on Wednesday, I of course, turned to the Internet to see what the heck this meant. I kind of expected to get results about heavy metal poisoning or something equally terrible.

There were all these links about pine nuts and this weird condition called Pine Mouth. Apparently, certain kinds of pine nuts can give certain people (but not everyone) this condition where everything tastes horrible for a few days up until a few WEEKS. I’m assuming this is what has happened to me as I made pesto the other night and have been snacking on Pine Nuts since then. I love Pine Nuts and am so sad they have done this to me.

Here’s an interesting article about it. It’s apparently a recent thing, but SO WEIRD right?

I’ll let you know how things are in a few days. But until then…blech.

S: “Mama, are you going to start doing more work soon?”
Me: “Why? Hasn’t it been fun to have me around more lately.”
S:” Oh yes, I like that. It’s just that I want to go to Paris next summer and fly first class, so I think you’re going to need to work some more.”
me: {completely floored}

It’s going to take a LOT of portrait sessions for that, little one, a LOT.
